About the Title of This Episode

“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night” has often been misquoted as “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.” The phrase is from the movie All About Eve with Bette Davis, telling the partygoers to hold on because trouble’s coming. With all that’s going on in movie geekdom lately, especially Star Wars Episode VIII being rescheduled, and studios probably scrambling right now to shuffle stuff around, I thought a play on the Bette Davis phrase was appropriate.

Star Wars Episode VIII has been pushed back to December 2017

The Godfather Epic on HBO

I saw the first half, about 4.5 hours long. Except for Talia Shire’s performance (felt forced and a little over-the-top), in my opinion this movie is flawless.

A whole bunch of stuff has been happening regarding superhero movies, DC and Marvel jockeying for position/viewer eyeballs:

Tuesday Night was DC vs. Marvel Night

Notes from the episode:

  • Use the Turtle’s power to slow down Zoom
  • Cisco remains awesome
  • Wally West is unconvincing as an asshole
  • Patty Spivot so far feels like she just gets in the way of the show. Nice, proper exit for her character though, different than the usual deaths that happen.
  • “If Zoom knows who you love, who you care for, he’ll take them away from you.”
  • Tom Cavanagh and Jesse Martin are PERFECT as the foundations of the show to balance the younger actors. Gravitas!
  • USS Indianapolis moment in the van with Cavanagh’s Harrison Wells and Carlos Valdes’s Cisco, on how Zoom got his name.
  • The Turtle’s stasis trophy collection!
  • Depth: Jay Garrick is dying.
  • Reverse Flash is back in the next episode?!

My DVR was recording the CW Channel and ABC Channel exactly at the same time.

While having dinner, I watched some of ABC’s Captain America: 75 Years. Reminded me a little of this great Batman documentary, Heart of Vengeance, included in the Batman Year One DVD/Blu-Ray:

Full documentary on CW, DC: Dawn of the Justice League with Kevin Smith:

I have yet to watch Agent Carter and the rest of Captain America: 75 Years. Totally skipped the Legends of Tomorrow preview (I’ll wait until the actual show comes out before reviewing it).

Suicide Squad Trailer

* My initial gut reaction: This trailer just out-Deadpooled Deadpool.
