Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Premiere – “Steps Into Shadow”

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Premiere

  • Review what I haven’t liked in recent past episodes: Grant Ward, too much time spent on soap opera subplots, not enough serving the main storyline which is good guys trying to defeat bad guys, too much emo going on
  • 10pm time slot
  • Quake getting dressed, taking pain pills, bandaging up her bruised forearms
  • Ghost Rider, car gets hit by bazooka/RPG, great transition into flames
  • Pretty good flames effects
  • 299 2XB license plate, 1969 Charger – any significance?
  • Rider rips bad guys to shreds like Predator, separate spine from body
  • Some call him “Ghost”, some call him “The Rider”—nice
  • May’s squad: “His mistake was he tapped out.”
  • VR helmet w/ FitzSimmons—is this leading up to something?
  • Ghost Rider interrogation scene in garage
  • Yo-Yo (Yolanda) coming on to Mack
  • Fitz meeting artificial human AIDA naked for the first time, awkward
  • Quake and Yoyo meting on bus
  • Ghost Rider’s fan club/graffiti artist adding XXX to large mural
  • Quake living in van is a good change of pace/back to her origin story
  • Bloody semi!
  • Coulson’s trick arm scanning semi—prosthetic looks natural because it was funky looking when disconnected, I’m sure the film crew did that on purpose
  • Ghost Rider’s car in killing scene in garage looks like Christine car (Stephen King novel/movie)
  • AIDA is a life model decoy (LMD), created not to hurt but to protect human beings. She will be top secret until she’s perfected. Great subplot, tears coming when she sacrifices herself, plus the question of sentience = living being.
  • May’s squad rocks! Like a SEAL team
  • Doctor Strange Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius) EYES shown in gangsters and Coulson
  • Ghost/witch whispered “A breath of fresh air”
  • Robbie Reyes’ brother in wheelchair, realistic sibling relationship

  • Ghost in the Shell – avant garde, Scarlett Johanssen taking a little chance but not too big a leap compared to Under the Skin. Kinda like Aeon Flux maybe, a little like Ex Machina but more mainstream.
  • Passengers – Silent Running but with sexy. Wish they didn’t show so much in the trailer, like Chris Pratt’s character maybe woke up Jennifer Lawrence’s character early on purpose. Is it going to be another corporate conspiracy storyline, or reminiscent of HAL 9000 shortcircuiting in 2001: A Space Odyssey?
  • The Arrival – this feels serious. My minor worry is it’ll be too much like Jodie Foster’s Contact or Matthew McConaghey’s Intersteller and might go a bit long and overstay its welcome. Feels like the engineer sequences in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, which was awe-inspiring.
  • Doctor Strange – latest trailer was shown during Agents of SHIELD, probably will crossover with each other’s storylines. The obvious comparison is with Chris Nolan’s Inception with the folding worlds.

Star Wars News and Updates

  • Star Wars movies already planned until 2021 including Anthology movies
  • Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso) was doing intensive martial arts training for Rogue One—will we see more hand-to-hand combat than what we initially expected?
  • What I would like to see:
    • Boba Fett movie that’s a SEQUEL to the Han Solo movie
    • The Anthology movies to be loosely tied together, similar to the episodic movies. That way there are 2 cinematic storylines being told, like the Marvel MCU and the Marvel Netflix Universe.
  • Speculation – Is Rey is Kylo’s sister?
    • “He’s like the father you never had.”
    • She knows subconsciously about Luke’s island
  • Star Wars Deep Geek: B’Omarr Monk
The B’omarr Monks were a mysterious religious order that moved to the planet Tatooine many centuries before the Battle of Yavin. They believed that cutting themselves off from all civilization and distraction was essential to their enlightenment. They built a cavernous monastery on the edge of the Dune Sea, and spent many quiet centuries in meditation. Many people lived in the monastery with the B’omarr Monks over the years. Most notable were the bandit Alkhara and Jabba the Hutt, who made it his palace.

If you enjoyed this and want to donate to a good cause, please consider sending a PayPal gift of any amount to Making Biscuits Cat Rescue. Even if you donate JUST ONE DOLLAR, that dollar will buy a can of food that a rescuer can feed a stray cat, or help get the cat in a humane trap so it can be taken to an animal hospital to be checked out medically and spayed/neutered. Just one dollar will help prevent unnecessary kittens being born and help with controlling overpopulation. If you give just one dollar, you’ll feel good about yourself. Promise.

About Making Biscuits Cat Rescue

Making Biscuits is a cat rescue started in June of 2009 in an effort to humanely reduce the overpopulation of stray and feral cats. Adoptable cats are spayed/neutered, defleaed, dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, given veterinary care including, when necessary, seen by a veterinary specialist (i.e., dental, eye, etc.), fed premium food and loved immensely. Making Biscuits feels very strongly about the role nutrition plays in the long-term health of our cats and whenever possible, educates pet owners. We advocate spay and neuter and often help people in the Long Beach and surrounding areas with their own pets as well as strays by loaning traps and cages, humanely trapping, defleaing/deworming, teaching bottle feeding, providing information about area clinics, veterinarians, behaviorists and all other aspects of cat parenting.
